Design Philosophy

Everyone has an innate capacity to envision, imagine, create, innovate and produce or attempt thereof to create something that will contribute positively to society. In 1983, Carmela Vitale’s vision of the pizza saver, the plastic pod in the center of pizza pies has saved people all of the world from soggy pizza sticking to the box. All that was needed was a plastic pod to revolutionize an industry catering to millions of people; it was a small idea that made a huge impact on society. Ruth Wakefield in 1937 with her husband Kenneth, inn-keepers, wanting to create chocolate cookies for her guests, accidentally created what we now know as chocolate chip cookies.

We live in a world uniquely designed. Inspiration is all around us in nature and man-made creations. Everyone has an innate capacity to envision, imagine, create, innovate and produce or at least attempt thereof to create something that will contribute positively to society. Design is subjective and individualized. Everyone has a unique identity and an aesthetic that they resonate with. We adopt designs into our lives that contribute to or represent our identity. We use design in almost every facet of our lives. Design is creation. Creation of visually, physically and sensually arousing stimuli. Anyone who creates, should aspire to invoke ethereal emotion. When the experience of one subjected to the creationist’s work triggers a surreal response one can be eternalized as an artist. The piece should activate parts of the mind that illicit transcendental feelings, especially when a new or unimagined stimuli is processed by a respective viewer. Originality is pivotal if one wishes to truly be immortalized by their creations. It is simplistic human nature to want to imitate; it can be seen a type of survival mechanism. This also ties into the concept of normalcy and conventional thinking. Oftentimes, the most accomplished of innovators are deprived of positive reinforcement and encounter hostility towards their creations. One can contribute this to another human tendency, instinctually reacting precariously to stimuli that one has never been subjected to. Any original creation is bound to stir up a myriad of emotions but this just means that the individuals are functioning normally to anything seemingly foreign to their own existence. Once an individual is able to captivate a group of individuals with their realized visions, an artist is born.
